Alrighty, boys and girls.

It's been a little while since my last update. I've just been hard at work on... more projects that I can't actually talk about for legal reasons. Ahem.

But there's news! I'm in the merry old land of England, for starters. And I'm going to IMATS this weekend. It should be a load of fun and I hope to get a lot out of it. And I can promise more updates -- art and otherwise -- for the future.

So. Allons-y!

A Little Update

Whew.

So I've been busy lately, peeps. No complaints about that, of course. In addition to the work with the Skirball Cultural Center (teaching comic art to kids) in LA I've been freelancing and have some pet portraits coming up. I've also been making another concerted effort to learn ZBrush. What an amazing program. You'll soon be seeing my Z-Endeavours here.

I've also been doing some scenic design for a television project that's in the works. I don't know how much I can say at this point since most of it is spec but I'm very very excited to be working with these guys. They're highly motivated and talented and I think that the project itself is very promising. Maybe I'll post something in the future that's to do with said project. Keep your eyes peeled! If nothing else, I'll be linking to the website soon.

C!

So.

I don't write much here. That's not how I'd intended it exactly but that's how it's worked out. But I do feel like writing today.

It's been about 2 weeks since I started my gig as a Teaching Artist in conjunction with school tours at the Skirball's Zap! Pow! Bam! exhibition on Golden Age comics. And today was my most trying group to date. I've had some wonderful kids but today's bunch were handfuls, the whole lot of them. From swearing to non-interaction to talking when I was giving instructions -- I covered a broad range of behaviour issues and I barely got to draw with any of them. By noon I was drained and severely frustrated. And somewhere during that time I managed to sit in white gum, smearing it all over my black pants... Which makes this sound like kinduva downer post, doesn't it?

Well, the good part of my day came on the way home. I decided to stop by CSUF for the dual purpose of depositing one of my larger commission checks and touching base with some old friends and teachers. I'm so very glad that I did. Not only was it wonderful to see the school and walk the halls, smell the old scents of oil paint and insomnia (kidding on that last bit. Not really.) it was gratifying to see a few familiar faces and to trade 'update stories'. That's all that I really have to say. I just feel very fortunate to know those people -- you know who you are -- and to have learned so much from them. And I feel inspired toward future endeavours.

Now, if only I had more energy... ;)
